Architectural Intern - Fall 2022

At SAGA Space Architects, we are pushing the boundaries of architecture on Earth and in Outer Space

We are a small architecture studio in Copenhagen looking for two interns. You will get experience in various parts of studio work. During the semester, we will complete our next habitat for a client in Switzerland and design one of the largest 3D printed concrete structures in the world.

The position is a four-month internship.

Location

Our studio is located in Copenhagen, Denmark. While relocating to Denmark is preferred, remote work is still an option.

We are looking for:

  • Architecture Intern - Bachelor's level: Aesthetic sense, basic Rhino3D & PhotoShop skills.
  • Computational Designer - Master's level: Solid understanding of Grasshopper & Rhino, or other Computational Design tools (e.g. Houdini).

It's a big plus if you:

  • Are interested in space exploration.
  • Like a challenging but rewarding work environment.
  • Aren't afraid of jumping into unknown waters.

Visualization Artist

Copenhagen, Denmark

We are looking for a visualization artist for both our architectural visualizations and high-tech product visualizations. The individual has to possess exceptional skills in making compelling images, mostly stills but also occasional animations. An artist who is curious and driven to create great pieces of art. Each project is unique and visualizations will vary from industrial design visualizations (e.g. electrical vehicles, robots and spacecrafts) to more traditional architectural visualizations for SAGA Earth, including both exterior and interior renderings.

What software you use is secondary. At the studio, we currently use both Blender+Cycles and Rhino+Vray for visualizations. We see software as a means to an end - you are free to use your own software workflow. Previously we have used Cinema 4D + Octane with great results.

Location

Key Qualifications:

  • Evidence of exceptional ability in visual arts
  • Ability to create compelling imagery
  • Mastery of your digital tools
  • Effective workflow

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Adobe Suite: Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro
  • Understanding of entire animation pipeline (including compositing and color grading)
  • Ability to 3D model own assets
  • Good understanding of materials and texturing
  • A personal opinion and style to add to our projects

Computational Architect

Copenhagen, Denmark

We are looking for a computational architect with a strong foundation in Grasshopper. We are very open to other form finding workflows, we see great potential especially for Houdini in the future of architecture. We expect exceptional skills in parametric design and form finding but also an interest in exploring the use of parametric tools to automate and optimize construction. You should be curious, and driven in helping us pioneer the way we live.

The immediate responsibility - together with the SAGA team - will be to explore be to develop the best way to build 3D printed architecture.

Our studio is a combined workshop- and office space. The distance from digital work to physical prototype is very short, and we appreciate individuals with a fundamental understanding of how things are put together. We value both conceptual studies and physical construction.

Location

Transportation Designer

Copenhagen, Denmark

We are looking for an industrial designer with a focus on transportation design. The responsibilities will include habitation design with focus on detail and high quality finish, design of spacecraft interior and finally occasional more traditional industrial design tasks for the sub-systems of our habitats (examples of previous sub-systems have been our Circadian Light Panels, and Algae Reactor). We expect exceptional skills in form finding and vision. You should be curious, and driven in helping us pioneer the lifestyle of space travel.
